Andrew Oliver, who joined the deVere Group in January 2010 after gaining more than a decade and a half’s experience in senior positions within several major financial brands, manages the firm’s offices across Spain and Portugal.
There are currently six deVere bases throughout the Iberian Peninsula – namely in Marbella, Madrid, Barcelona, the Costa Blanca, the Balearics and Lisbon – and there are ambitious plans to launch further offices in the region over the next year or so.
Recognised as one of the most qualified advisers in the industry, with qualifications across a wide-ranging selection of subjects including tax planning, trusts, portfolio planning, pensions, mortgages, and equity release, amongst others, Andy – who wrote a thesis ‘How To Improve The Finance Industry For The Consumer’ for his Master’s degree in Business Administration – is passionate about sharing his expertise in financial planning so individuals and their families can benefit from the tangible positives it can bring.
As such, not only does he have a non-stop schedule of face-to-face meetings with clients to fine-tune their financial strategies and to keep them abreast of any developments, enabling them to always remain on track to reach their financial objectives, he is also a keynote speaker at deVere Group seminars where he tackles head-on the big issues of the day that are affecting his core client base, namely expats and international investors, in Spain and Portugal.
In recent months, these subjects have included the new reporting obligations for those with overseas assets, the unlocking of UK pensions, and how to mitigate the effects of the UK’s burgeoning pensions crisis.
Speaking after a recent seminar hosted by Andy Oliver in Menorca one couple, Carol and Trevor Weston, said: “We were extremely concerned at the Dickensian-style sanctions the Spanish Government intend to impose on those who are not in compliance with their latest tax regulations.

A family man and self-confessed ‘fitness nut’, Andy will be joining a team of deVere staffers who will participate in the prestigious 2013 Semi Marathon de Paris, taking place in the French capital on Sunday to raise funds for a variety of life-enhancing charities.
