Richard has a long and illustrious career in financial services stretching way back to 1971 when he set out as a financial advisor. Over 40 years of experience later, Richard assumes one of the most demanding roles in deVere Europe, which has included responsibility for the establishment of deVere’s fully regulated operations in France.

His first role in financial services was for Schroder Life, which became Friends’ Provident. Here he rose to National Sales Manager before joining Cornhill Financial Management (part of the Allianz Group) as Managing Director.

In 1996, Richard was head hunted as UK General Manager of Prudential Assurance, a position which he undertook with great success. Restless, and with the entrepreneurial bug biting hard, he started again but this time in France, establishing his own business as an investment adviser in 2000, eventually selling the business he’d built to Siddalls’ in 2007 and becoming their European Development Director.

During his Siddalls tenure Richard established Siddalls Spain, was promoted to Operations Director at Siddalls parent company IFG plc and took overall control of Siddalls as Managing Director soon after.

Top level experience

It is this career-long drive and energy at the highest levels of responsibility along with first-hand experience of establishing European financial services offices from scratch that caught the eye of deVere and in 2010 Richard joined us.

Richard Bayle photoHis remit was to establish deVere in France as a fully regulated entity and today Richard is based in France, overlooking the continued development of what has become, under his stewardship, one of deVere Europe’s most successful divisions.

Outside of work, Richard is an equally successful family man with to Carol, with two daughters and four grandchildren. He sits on the board of many charitable organisations but says his most rewarding time was as a Magistrate when he served on the Lord Chancellors Cttee for Magistrates Reform. When he’s not at work or with family, he loves sailing, skiing, cricket, walking and fine wine.

Never one to pass up a challenge, Richard is soon to embark on a transatlantic sailing trip, taking his yacht and two friends to the Caribbean where he and his wife have an apartment. It’s the first time he’s attempted this, although one of his friends has done the trip before. Carol will be flying out to meet them on their arrival.
