deVere United Kingdom to take part in London apprenticeship scheme

deVere United Kingdom’s Head of Financial Planning, Kevin White, has been invited to address ‘life skills’ students in London next month on the subject of finance, the importance of budgeting and setting goals.

Financial education in schools and colleges is, as I have stated before, an important goal we should all be striving towards.  I passionately believe that increasing financial literacy amongst the wider population will boost more people’s chances of reaching their long-term financial goals – which for most of us is securing financial freedom.

Kevin will be talking to 15-20 students on 26th February in Canary Wharf.  The initiative has been set up through London’s City Gateway charity, an award-winning charity that’s based in Tower Hamlets, and The Evening Standard, which is running an apprenticeship scheme called ‘Ladder for London’.

The principal aim of the project is to reduce youth unemployment in the British capital, by encouraging companies to take on apprentices.  At the end of last year, well over a thousand jobless young people in London had been taken on by over 400 companies taking part in the scheme during the first 12 months.

Apprentices to join deVere

It’s a truly inspirational project, and one with which we’re proud to be associated.  As such deVere United Kingdom will be taking on two apprentices from the scheme.

This is further evidence of how deVere is committed to giving back to the communities in which it operates.  And I’m thrilled that we’re going to be using our resources to help two young people take their first steps towards a rewarding career in the financial services sector.
