BRFC logoLast month, we announced that the deVere Group is continuing its sponsorship of the British Rugby Club of Paris (BRFC).  It is now the second consecutive season that the organisation has been the core sponsor of the high profile expat team.

And with a new season, come new – and contemporarily designed – shirts for the BRFC squad, which, of course, have our globally identifiable deVere logo emblazoned across the front.  There’s more than a degree of ‘Cool Britannia’ about the new look.

The Telegraph recently ran a story about BRFC, highlighting the deVere-sponsored kit.

Specialising in expatriate wealth management solutions as we do, deVere’s link with the British Rugby Club of Paris, an expat team at the top of their game, is a natural partnership, and has been a great success for both parties over the past year.

I follow the BRFC closely throughout the season, and the team was largely undefeated last year, just missing out on the league title in the semi-finals.

Unfortunately though, this season has started with a loss, with the expats being defeated last weekend by Société Générale (SG) by 28-24, in the last moments of an unlucky match for BRFC.  Despite scoring three tries, they missed a few difficult conversions, enabling SG to clinch a narrow victory.

BRFC

Formed in 1923 by a number of English rugby players living and working in Paris, the BRFC started out playing a number of ‘friendlies’ and touring.  The team, currently in the Corpo 1st Division, goes on tour at least once each season, having visited numerous places including Cardiff, Rome, Madrid, Amsterdam and Bayonne amongst others.

Not all of the players in the squad are British, everyone is welcome, which again reflects the BRFC’s major part in Paris’ thriving international population.  In fact, some of the team members are French, preferring the international ‘edge’ that the BRFC enjoys.

The British Rugby Club of Paris is hoping to return to winning ways against Athletic Club de Boulogne-Billancourt (ACBB) on Saturday morning at 11, at the ‘Stade de la Marche, St Cloud’.

Good luck, lads!
