Victory for deVere Group-sponsored BRFC in Saturday’s match

deVere Group-sponsored British Rugby Club of Paris (BRFC) returned to winning ways last weekend, as they tackled Bouygues in Saint Quentin to come from 17-10 down to achieve a 24-17 victory.

I’m a big supporter of the BRFC boys and follow them closely throughout the season.  They were defeated in their last two games against Pompiers 95 and Renault, so were determined to win on Saturday.

Despite an early dominance from the French side, it was the expats who scored the first try, thanks to Dougal Henderson and Jim Grieves.

Bouygues were quick to retaliate and piled the pressure on BRFC, as they became ever closer to the rival try line.  With the score board showing a 7-7 tie, a Ludo penalty followed by a Bouygues try resulted in BRFC 12-10 down at half time.

BRFC showed their strength and determination to win during the second half, and following another Bouygyes try, man of the match, expat Liam Isaac, gave his teammates a motivational push to ensure a third defeat wasn’t on the cards.

As I’ve known them do on numerous occasions, the BRFC boys turned the match around, and following two tries, the first from Liam, and a second from Jim Grieves, they were no longer wrapped in the arms of defeat.  Quite the opposite.  They’d gone from being 17-10 down, to now leading by 24-17.

The last 15 minutes of play saw a solid attacking display from Bouygues, but they were unable to crack the incredible BRFC defence from Nico Dolo, Dougal, Liam and the others.  The expat side rang the victory bell and are now situated above Bouygues in the table.

BRFC are taking on Thales on Saturday 7th December at Domont, and I’m confident their winning streak will continue.

Successful partnership

It was announced earlier this year that deVere Group was extending its sponsorship of the British Rugby Club of Paris for the second consecutive year.

The success of the British Rugby Club of Paris is down to a group of hard-working expats striving to achieve their goals and I’m excited that deVere, a global leader in expat wealth management solutions, is continuing to support such an important part of France’s expat community.
