Jack Kerswell, deVere Group Area Manager, Basel and Bern, Switzerland
For Jack Kerswell, the financial services industry is not so much a career as a way of life – exemplified in his rise from UK local bank branch manager to a significant leadership role within the deVere Group.
His career started as a financial consultant for Abbey National (now Santander) where, through several years in the field, he rose to the position of Bank Manager. From here, Jack moved to the Post Office, responsible for all regulated and non-regulated activity within a branch-to-branch network including coaching, training and developing personnel.
The role not only required outstanding people skills but an in-depth knowledge of the financial services sector – and it was this combination of skills that ultimately drew the attention of us here at the deVere Group.
In June 2010, Jack joined deVere as a wealth manager in Basel, Switzerland, specialising in the provision of financial advice to expats with a focus on retirement and pension planning, long term investments, and education fee planning, amongst other elements of financial planning.
Leadership role
Such was his success in this role Jack was promoted to Area Manager of Basel and Bern, Switzerland, in October 2012. Alongside his financial advisory duties, Jack is also responsible for running the office’s team of financial advisers and co-ordinators. It’s a heavyweight role and one within which Jack has flourished – under his leadership the office continues to see steady expansion of both the funds it manages and the number of clients it serves.
Having spent a lifetime in financial services, Jack has learnt the industry from the ground up and it’s no surprise that along the way he has garnered an impressive portfolio of financial services qualifications including Certificates in Wealth Management, Financial Advice and Mortgage Advice and Practice.
Qualifications aside, it is Jack’s expertise in financial planning that has enabled him to build a large and loyal client base. Their feedback is superlative and he is highly regarded for offering clear and pragmatic options, catering for specific financial interests that yield excellent results.
Jack moved to Switzerland just over three years ago with his wife and 12 year old daughter. The Swiss way of life works well for them and has also enabled Jack to indulge in his favourite pastime of food and drink. He’s a keen cook and music lover who’s recently taken up cycling as a way to keep fit, motivated and focused.
