“Having a good time doing good’

I’m thrilled to announce that this year’s Wizard of Oz-themed Geneva Charity Ball held at city’s stunning Hotel Intercontinental, was a resounding triumph.

Guests from the media, sport, finance and business worlds enjoyed the most lavish extravaganza to date, raising money for the carefully selected charities whilst having a magical, unforgettable time in the process.

Taking place, incidentally, at the same venue where top level negotiations over Iran’s nuclear programme were in full swing, the setting was the ideal location for the glitz and glamour that comes with the annual Charity Ball.

The core charities supported by the Geneva Charity Ball

deVere has been a core sponsor of this event for the past four years, which last Saturday night raised 55,000 CHF for four life-enhancing children’s charities, both local and international – Clair Bos, Paidos, SOS Children’s Villages,  and the GM Foundation.  Clair Bos is Geneva’s biggest institution for poly-handicapped children, and Paidos is a Swiss-based organisation supporting troubled teenagers integrate back into society.  The two international charities supported at the event were SOS Children’s Villages, who provide aid for orphaned and abandoned children all over the world, and the GM Foundation, which provides secondary school fees for children in Kenya.

It’s thanks to the drive and commitment from deVere Group’s Senior Area Manager for Switzerland and Italy, Paul Dodds, who also sits on the Geneva Charity Ball board, that the partnership between deVere and Geneva Charity Ball remains a strong one.

Speaking after the event, Paul commented: “As the event’s slogan highlights, it’s all about ‘having a good time doing good’.  We pulled off another great event for the fourth year in a row!  The auction raised the most funds yet, and guests had a fantastic party.  I guess our party atmosphere also put the visiting politicians sharing the hotel in a good mood, as they managed to reach an agreement just as the DJ played the last songs of the evening!”

Congratulations to everyone involved. Another incredible evening.
